Lamgie Yip, a musician from Hong Kong, specializes in piano and organ teaching. With a rich musical background, she achieved 2nd place in the esteemed Munich Piano Competition 2022, a testament to her dedication and skill. Her musical journey began in 2020 when she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in music at Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in organ under the guidance of Ms. Wong Kin Yu and Dr. Chan Sheung Chi. Transitioning to Royal Holloway, University of London in 2021, she continued her focus on organ under the tutelage of Mr. Rupert Gough, culminating in the completion of her Bachelor of Music degree in 2023. Prior to her university studies, she graduated from Maryknoll Convent School (Secondary Section) with outstanding achievements, including a 5* in Music in the HKDSE examination, serving as the pianist of the school choir and as the organist of the school.
Presently, she holds the esteemed position of organ scholar at St. Mary at Finchley Church, honored with the Eric Thompson Trust by the Royal Philharmonic in 2022 and The Ecclesiastical Music Trust recognized by the English Hymnal Company in 2023. Additionally, she serves as the organist at Christ Church Brixton Road, where she organizes church music activities and curates hymn selections for various services.
With four years of teaching experience, Lamgie demonstrates a fervent commitment to her students' growth, exemplified by one student's attainment of Distinction in ABRSM Grade 5. As a dedicated and patient educator, she takes joy in guiding students to explore their musical passions while nurturing a well-rounded skill set to elevate their musical prowess.
