Eddy starts his percussion learning when he studied in the primary school. He learnt both Chinese and Western percussion under the guidance of Mr Chin-tung CHAU during his secondary school life at the Diocesan Boys’ School (DBS). Eddy was the member of the school orchestra, the Chinese orchestra and the wind band. In those days, DBS capture numerous of prizes during every Hong Kong School Music Festivals. For the individuals, he captured the xylophone solo champion in the 55th Hong Kong School Music Festival and the 2nd runner-up for the marimba solo in the next year’s festivals. He was awarded the Yao Yue Chinese Music Scholarships in the year of 2003.

Eddy entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) after graduated from the DBS. He studied Chinese percussion with virtuoso Mr Hok-man YIM as his major studies. He also studied timpani and western percussion with Mr Alan Cumberland, Dr Heung-wing LUNG and Miss Sophia Woo. During the studies at the HKAPA, Eddy was awarded scholarships including the Coutts Bank Scholarships, the Society of the Academy for the Performing Arts Scholarships and the HSBC HKSAR/Mainland Exchange Scholarships. Eddy was the member of the HKAPA Chinese ensemble, which represents HKSAR holding concerts through out European countries.

Besides school activities, Eddy joined the orchestras organized by the Music Office and participated in the tours to Kagoshima (1998), Beijing, Xian (2000), Aberdeen (2005) and Jiangsu (2007). He also awarded the Best Drummer in the 2nd and the 4th Hong Kong Synergy 24 Drum Competition held by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.

Eddy was awarded the Bachelor of Music (Hon) Degree in the year 2009. He started taking the postgraduate programme in the same year at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and received the Master of Arts Degree (Music) in the year of 2011.

Eddy had been worked as the Assistant Music Officer I(Chinese) in the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department over the last decade. He is also the free-lance musician of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.
