Violet Wong, has been a full-time piano teacher and music performer since 2012 with the qualified Trinity College London ATCL Dip for my piano and ABRSM Grade 8 Trumpet (merit) and Grade 8 Music Theory. She had different experiences in both teaching and performing. Her students include different ages, children, teenagers, and also adults. She taught mainly Classical Piano, Pop Piano, trumpet, and Music theory. Apart from teaching, she is also well-experienced in piano accompanying different instrumental students before. Among her teaching, most of them participated in the ABRSM examination and the Hong Kong Inter-School Music Festival.
Violet is a former trumpet player in the Hong Kong Civil Aid Service (Band Company) and is well-trained in marching with music. She has performed at different official functions including Officer Mess Dinners, New Recruit Passing Out Ceremonies and National Flag Raising Ceremonies. In 2015 she was awarded the "Best Progress Member of the Year" in the band. In 2017 she joined the Hong Kong Wind Ensemble and performed in local community halls. In 2020, Violet continued her music career in London and Bristol. She has performed in St. Martin in the Field (Chinese Congregation) and St. Mary Woodford choirs. She also performed in brass bands including the South London Wind Ensemble, the University of Bristol Brass Band (2021/2022), and the Long Ashton Orchestra. Last year, she participated in Unibrass 2022 in Sheffield. Recently, Violet led her students at the Bristol Festival of Music, Drama, and Speech 2023 where they were awarded distinction and second place.
In 2022, while continuing her teaching and performing career, Violet embarked on her MA in Music Performance at Bath Spa University. During this time, she participated in Sparkfest 2023, a funded project by the school which was titled "Impressions and Expression: La Cathedrale Engloutie". This unique underwater filming project marked Violet's first professional music endeavor. Together with ideas of music visualisation and Debussy's music ideas, she rearranged the music with different percussion instruments, infusing it with her inspiration''. During this summer, she first hosted a lunchtime recital in the UK, at the Bath Abbey. Meanwhile, she was invited by a Finland Music organiser, as her first time being one of the jury members of the International Scandinavian Instrumental Music Competition 2023.
By the end of the year, Violet will graduate soon in this year. She will turn a new page on performance and teaching in two main cities, including London, and Bristol.
