Teaching Diary - Hand coordination challenge 2
There are different muscles and joints in our body. We need to get to know them and learn how to control them.
Many students do not know to relax their shoulders and arms when playing piano. That makes the fingers not flexible enough especially when they play in fast tempo. Or they pay too much attention to their shoulders and arms, but their fingers are too weak to project the sound. That makes the sound not solid enough.
Here is an example of learning how to use fingers to hold a thing while other parts of body stay relaxed. His three fingers pretend to play a chord.
This exercise not only teaches them how to relax the muscles, but also trains their strength of finger.
