24 preludes in Jazz Style Op.53 No.9 - Nikolai Kapustin by Katherine Chan

This is the performance in a competition in Macau.

One of the famous jazz composers - Nikolai Kapustin was born in 1937 in Gorlovka, Ukraine. He studied the piano with Avrelian Rubbakh in Moscow. It was the first time that he first heard American jazz on the radio. He gradually fell in love with jazz.

He had studied the work of classical music and the music of contemporary jazz. From 1984 onwards, he composed Etudes, Preludes, Sonatas for piano and the epic work "24 Preludes and Fugues" by using "jazz idioms".

It was my honour to be a winner in this competition and perform his work on stage in the award ceremony.
